AI projects for kids with a clear purpose and a real outcome

A useful AI project is more than pressing Generate. Children should define a problem, create something they can show, test the result, record mistakes, and explain what a human still needs to decide. Start with one of the six parent-guided pathways below.

Choose by interest, not by hype

Times are planning estimates. Tool access, cost, and account rules can change, so a parent should review the linked project before a child begins.

Create a small set of images from controlled prompt changes, then compare accuracy, style, and bias.

The five-step build, test, explain method

Protect the child, then protect the project

Use an adult-managed account when required. Never enter a child’s full name, school, address, birth date, private photo, password, or direct contact information. Treat every generated answer as a draft to test.

After watching, ask your child to draw a robot as a system: sensor input, decision, action, and human safety check. That diagram can become the plan for a paper prototype or visual-coding project.
